Wine Wednesday to Sunday Funday; sometimes we all need to unwind after the long day. However, the last thing someone wants to do is cook. Or maybe your coworkers want to enjoy a night out without the hustle and bustle of everyone else? Whether you are looking for a quiet and quaint watering hole or the happening and hyper night spot, Albany has as little night life for all. So without further ado, I give you five local go-to night spots for your visit:
Casa Tapatia – Tortillas, tequila and trivia are found in this local hot spot. It’s hard not to have a blast at this Mexican restaurant on certain Saturday nights. Every other Saturday, Ross and Jimmy are your hosts for Name That Tune Trivia at 8pm. Bring your group of friends to win several prizes and enjoy dancing in between the rounds of trivia. Of course, a weekend is always pleasurable when margaritas are involved!
Coach’s Sports Bar & Grill – Want to dance and sing? This is your best option. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, Coach’s is the place to stretch the vocal pipes with karaoke starting at 9pm until closing time. Friday and Saturday nights feature live music and DJ’s for anyone in the dancing mood. Don’t worry; happy hour is part of the daily routine here. Just get there for early drinks from 4pm to 7pm.
Harvest Moon – Restaurant by day, bar by night! This happening Stewbos joint is where you will find anyone and everyone in Albany. I highly suggest eating at Harvest Moon and then coming back for a night cap. The vibe is similar but you don’t want to miss out on the live music on Friday and Saturday. If there on the right night, you may catch owner, Bo Henry, performing with his band. The food is fantastic and the beer selection is one of the best in town.
Manor House Pub – If you’re looking for a more laid back vibe, Manor House Pub is perfect. The pub may be located at Merry Acres Inn, but you will be sure to socialize with locals. Live music on the patio every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and a beautiful setting, will help anyone unwind from the day. Get hungry? Order from any of the Stewbos’ restaurants and have it delivered to the pub. Prefer to change the scenery after a cocktail? Take the shuttle to one of the restaurants and avoid fighting for parking.
Newman’s Bar & Grill – Albany’s newest restaurant also serves as another live music venue. Start your evening with a delicious meal and stick around for musical talent on Friday and Saturdays starting at 10pm. You have to try the self-serve beer kiosk! With six taps, customers can try multiple brews and only get charged by the ounce. Ask your waiter for the card, load it with your desired amount, and start tasting. I recommend Newman’s Bock, the only local brew in town.
If you’re looking for more of a quiet dinner and drinks, there are other delicious local eateries as well. Many will have the perfect dish to go along with your favorite glass of wine or mixed drink. Who knows, we may end up with a social name for Mondays and Tuesdays soon!
