#TBT: Vintage Albany photo shows fire department hard at work

In the city’s early years, Albany’s fire department was one of the best in country. The city had one of the earliest organized volunteer and then paid departments in the country and routinely set standards that would become adopted by departments throughout the nation.
Here, firefighters battle a fire at the corner of Washington Street and Broad Avenue in the 1930’s.
