Albany Welcomes 3rd Annual Hunt & Show

ALBANY, GA – American Kennel Club (AKC), The Exchange Club of Albany, Albany Beverage and South Georgia Coon & Squirrel Hunters Association have come together for the 3rd Annual AKC Southern Heritage Hunt & Show. The event will run Friday, January 30-31, 2015 at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds.
“We are thrilled to have AKC back in town this weekend,” Rashelle Beasley, Albany Convention & Visitors Bureau Director, said. “The economic impact for this event is upwards of $100,000. We are fortunate to have partnerships with local clubs and business allowing us to host events such as this one.”
The Hunt on Friday and Saturday is open to all coonhounds. Registration is $35. There will be ten placements awarded each night, eagle trophies awarded, all entrants receive a annual collectors pin, a custom embroidered Dan’s Southern Heritage jackets awarded to each night’s hunt winner, plus overall hunt and show winner. Two hi score dogs from each night hunt it off for final one hour hunt. One thousand dollars the overall hunt winner, second place receives a .22 auto rifle, third place receives a full size diamond plated dog box w/ storage, fourth place receives a Kelly’s K-Light. All winners will receive complimentary photo print, full set of Bench Show awards including silver plated red white and blue trophy cups to best M/F of each class and BOB neck ribbons.
This is both a 2015 World & SPORTMIX Qualifying event. If your dog is not yet qualified for either event, earning one cast win at Southern Heritage will get your hound qualified.
On Saturday, January 31, 2015 the Bench Show entries will start at 9:00AM, registration fee is $20. The show will start at 11:00AM. Dogs earning an Open or Champion class win will qualify for the 2015 World Show.
All proceeds from this event will help in the prevention of child abuse.

Coonhounds at the AKC is operated by the Coonhound Events Department of the American Kennel Club, the world’s largest purebred dog registry with one million registrations annually.
