ALBANY, GA – J.G. Jakes will be introducing and signing her book “The River’s Edge” on Saturday, December 13th from 10AM to 1PM at the Albany Welcome Center.

“The River’s Edge” is a Christian genre fictional story that follows a young farm girl’s life lessons as she struggles with bitterness and resentment. Readers follow her journey of love and hatred, regret and forgiveness, faith and consequences.  Set in the 60s, Jakes uses historical significant racial relation events throughout the tale. She desires the book to convey the power of forgiveness and setting oneself from bitterness.

Born and raised in South Georgia, Jakes grew up loving and nurturing her father’s farmland. Now a retired school teacher, Jakes focuses on her love of writing and inspirational speaking. She continues to share God’s love and grace with Christian women’s groups encouraging others to strive for their full potential.

The setting of “The River’s Edge” is the Flint River and Downtown Albany. Throughout the story, readers familiar with Albany will recognize the Broad Street Bridge, train trestle, railroad station and the livestock barn. The Albany Welcome Center’s location made for an ideal setting for the introduction and signing. Those interested will be able to purchase the book on Saturday for 15 dollars.
