Albany, GA – The Albany Museum of Art is pleased to announce Touch A Truck, the museum’s fall fundraiser, scheduled on Sat., Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Touch A Truck will take place in the museum’s backyard at 311 Meadowlark Drive in Albany, adjacent to Darton State College on Gillionville.
Touch A Truck, presented by Oxford Construction, provides a unique opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types – public service, emergency, utility, construction, transportation and delivery. Those young and those young at heart will be allowed to touch, climb on and ask questions about their favorite trucks in a safe, supervised environment. Accompanying personnel will teach the children about the equipment displayed and how these machines help the community.
This will be the second year for the event; last year’s inaugural event boasted 1,000 people from the community. Albany Museum of Art Trustee and Chairman of the event Katie Hughey Gatewood brought the event to the museum because of she had seen the event in other towns and thought it would be a great fit for Albany.
“Katie is a huge asset to the museum,” said Cristin Kirbo, director of marketing and special events. “This event brought hundreds of families through the museum last year and was a really fun day for our community. We are looking forward to another great event on Saturday.”
The fundraiser will support the museum’s mission of maintaining free admission every day to the community, as well as enhancing the classroom and AMAzing Space, the interactive, educational indoor space at the museum specifically designed for children.
Tickets are available the day of the event for $5 and $20 for a family a five. This year’s event will have two horn-free hours from 10 a.m – 12 p.m. for children who are afraid of loud noises.
