Frontier Festival

Frontier Festival

On multiple days

Step into the past... Smell the campfires and warm your feet while you watch the day to day lifestyle of the pioneers and mountain men of the pre 1840s. Participants live the weekend as if from that era. Things like blacksmithing, weaving, cooking, moccasin making, hide tanning, and bow making will be prominently featured along with a host of other activities such as tomahawk throwing competitions and black powder gun shooting demonstrations. Participants, such as vendors and “buck-skinner” campers, come from all over the country to spend the weekend living life how it was lived from the early 1700s through roughly 1840. This event is free with park admission. Go >

Home Tour Art Exhibition

On multiple days

This exhibition opens Oct. 23, 2018 and continues through Feb. 2, 2019. The exhibit features a dozen artists who work in or who were educated in Georgia as they investigate interiors, domesticity and identity. The artists in Home Tour investigate the domestic environment through a lens that is simultaneously sugary sweet and sharply sour. Exposing the nature of place, these works are not without extreme beauty and whimsy, but they also offer a sensation of longing and nostalgia, and the desire for the feeling of belonging. Free admission! Go >
