Civic Saturday ALBANY 1619-2019! Honoring The Albany Movement

Civic Saturday ALBANY 1619-2019 will feature two community gatherings. The opening gathering is on October 26, 2019 with the theme, “Remembering the Spark of The Albany Movement,” that happened on November 1, 1961. The closing gathering is on November 16, 2019 with the theme, “Reflecting on the Triumph of The Albany Movement,” that started on November 17, 1961.

 

The Civic Saturday morning gathering involves civic reflection, connection, and inspiration through civic poetry, readings, songs/music, a talk, participants meeting & greeting, refreshments, and civic circles. Highlights of the Civic Saturday ALBANY 1619-2019! gatherings will include the Scroll of Triumph Tribute to recognize Albany Movement Veterans and civic circles discussing ideas for community action using the Arts & Humanities to tell “The Albany Story of 1619-2019 Triumph.”
