White Dog Howl Live
Overview
White Dog Howl is a soulful, blues-driven trio hailing from Panama City Beach, Florida. Formed in early 2025, the band brings together three seasoned musicians whose deep Southern roots and brother-like bond give their music a rare authenticity. Their sound—raw, rootsy, and rich with emotion—is built on the traditions of southern rock, soul, and Americana, blending originals with spirited covers of artists like Tyler Childers, ZZ Top, Billy Strings, CCR, and The Funky Meters.
Guitarist and producer Blake English is a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist who grew up surrounded by music and has toured nationally with artists across genres. A former member of Few Miles South, Blake brings a sharp ear, powerful playing, and studio savvy to the band’s creative engine. He met Matt Hunter, a dynamic drummer and vocalist, when Matt was filling in on drums with Few Miles South. Their musical chemistry was instant, sparking not just a project, but a brotherhood.
Matt’s own roots run deep—his father, Larry Hunter, was the drummer for 70s southern rock band Beaverteeth, and Matt was raised in the legendary Muscle Shoals scene. His soulful, Levon Helm-like vocals and rhythmic feel give White Dog Howl a driving heartbeat. Completing the trio is Ian Shafer, bassist, vocalist, and lifelong friend of Matt. The two have played together since childhood, with Ian’s songwriting and devotion to the bass grounding the band’s sound in groove and grit.
Now reunited and reignited, the trio is writing and recording their debut album at Southern Fried Sound, Blake’s home studio. Their first single is set to release in Summer 2025, followed by a run of live shows throughout the Southeast and a short summer tour out West. Whether on stage or in the studio, White Dog Howl is the sound of friendship, fire, and the spirit of the South—howling loud and proud.
