Albany is a sportsman’s paradise, and with our moderate climate, you can enjoy the outdoors year-round.
Rivers & Trails
Bikes, boots and kayaks are all welcome means of travel around here.
You’ll find natural terrain, waterways and pavement make up a winding network of trails and rivers across town.
Whether you want to try your hand on the water or simply take in the views of our glorious river, The Flint offers navigation both on foot and via paddle. Meanwhile, deep in Albany’s wooded and wild forests, you can choose to uncover the wilderness of Chehaw before hitting the zoo or opt for a more peaceful, picturesque stroll along the four miles of Radium Springs trail.
The Riverfront Greenway Trail is flat and paved, spanning miles of The Flint River’s (a coveted kayaking and canoe destination with 220 total miles of flow) riverbank and perfect for pedaling. Albany’s sprawling trail system includes everything from wooded hikes through Chehaw and Radium Springs to extensive paths like the Rails to Trails pathway to neighborhood parks like Tift Park to Albany State University. They welcome anyone on foot or pedals in search of natural beauty.
